This tool from the SIDS Center of New Jersey (SCNJ) aims to facilitate healthcare professionals such as nurses, physicians, and other providers in educating parents and caregivers on establishing a secure sleeping environment for infants. The recommendations align with the guidelines set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), last updated in July 2022, with the goal of diminishing the occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant fatalities like accidental suffocation during sleep. Emphasizing the preventable nature of many sudden unexpected infant deaths, these guidelines equip caregivers with essential knowledge and skills.

This application serves as a visual aid to supplement conversations with parents, offering access to sample safe sleep educational materials downloadable from the SCNJ website, links to pertinent educational resources, the safe sleep policy statement, and technical report from the AAP. Additionally, it includes a Q & A section providing in-depth insights into safe infant sleep practices. Designed for infants from birth to twelve months old, encompassing both full-term and preterm infants, families are urged to engage in discussions regarding these guidelines with their child's healthcare provider.
